Electric Cars for Kids: Buying Overview

Electric cars and trucks are becoming more and more popular on the roads, on the job site, and in high-end workshops. Now they’re coming for your outdoor adventures. The brand-new Jeep Recon 4xe is an electric SUV that might be able to compete with the Wrangler, which is currently the best SUV on the market.

Jeep is known for making tough cars that can be used on and off-road. Will that tradition continue now that they use electric motors? The Jeep brand is known for taking people off the beaten road, and the Jeep Recon EV is set to carry on that tradition. So far, this is what we know about Jeep’s new electric off-roader.

2025 Jeep Recon 4xe Release Date

Stellantis, the company that owns Jeep, won’t say what the new Rebel 4xe will offer or when it will come out. It was presented at the end of 2022. The car company hasn’t given us all the specifics we want yet, but we know it looks like the Wrangler and has those famous doors that can be taken off.

Why do you ask? When will the electric Jeep Recon SUV be on the roads or trails? Based on what Jeep has said recently, orders for the electric Recon 4xe will start taking place later this year, and deliveries will begin sometime in 2024. Because of this, it’s likely to be called the 2025 Jeep Recon 4xe. There is no set date yet, but we should know more by the beginning of next year.

Jeep produces a lot of electric cars. In the UK, the Jeep Avenger is one example. Soon, the Wagoneer S and Recon 4xe will be available in the US. In the end, the whole US economy will be electric. You could think about the Jeep Grand Cherokee Hybrid for now.

Recon EV Price and Trim Levels

Every Jeep model, from the Compass and Gladiator to the well-known Wrangler, will have different trim levels. The new Jeep Recon will be no different. We don’t know what will be available or how much it will cost until pre-orders or an open ordering system starts.

But we have a good idea of what to expect from Jeep’s new hybrid and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, like the Wrangler 4xe. The Sahara trim level of the Wrangler 4xe costs less than $59,000, but the Rubicon 4xe costs at least $63,000. The Recon is a slightly bigger SUV that looks a lot like the Wrangler. Because of this, it will likely have similar trim levels and prices.

For $59,995, the Jeep Recon 4xe is expected to come with a base “Sport” package. Prices will go up from there. Some pictures of the Moab trim showed up on a Jeep site. We expect to see a Jeep Recon Willys, a Rubicon, and maybe even more. You can expect to pay more than $72,000 for a Jeep Recon 4xe Rubicon or Sahara.

Jeep Recon EV Specs and Performance

From the first pictures that Jeep sent us, it’s clear that the Recon is a boxy, tough, mid-size SUV made for adventure. With its curved and lit grille and Jeep logo, the front looks a bit like the GMC Hummer EV. Fans probably noticed that all four wheels had sharp BFGoodrich all-terrain tires. Then, as is usual for Jeeps, a fifth full-size spare tire is put on the back. Don’t forget the roof rack, tow hooks, and what looks like a rear hatch door that swings out to make getting to all your camping stuff easy.

The first press statement talked about the famous doors that could be taken off, the new “Selec-Terrain” traction management system, the full 4×4 modes with electronic lockers, and the powered top that could be opened with just one touch. So, some trims will have a panoramic sunroof that can be added as an extra.

You probably want to know how much horsepower, torque, gear ratios, battery life, range, and off-road ability it has. We’re sorry, but we don’t know those yet. The Avenger is Jeep’s first all-electric car in the UK. It has a small 54-kWh battery and a single electric motor that can go about 249 to 342 miles on a single charge.

Using the brand-new “STLA Large” electric base, we expect the Jeep Recon 4xe to have a battery with a range of 90 to 100 kWh, or even more. Autocar.co.uk says it will have almost 600 horsepower, a range of more than 370 miles, and the ability to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds. Of course, if those numbers are correct, it will be tough for off-road cars like the Rivian R1S.

Is the Recon EV going to replace the Wrangler?

The Jeep Wrangler is a well-known and useful car. One that got even better when the Wrangler 4xe combo came out. Stellantis wants the Recon to sit next to the Wrangler at the top of those rough Moab off-road roads. What makes the Recon so exciting is that it’s based on the Wrangler without replacing it.

The cars will work well together and give buyers more choices. The Recon is in a good spot because it is a more standard SUV and is a bit bigger than the Jeep Wrangler or Gladiator. It could be a great choice for Jeep fans who want a vehicle that looks more like the Grand Cherokee but is still tough. Or, people who want a tough car but like Jeeps more than something like the new Silverado EV’s strength. But it’s still not clear if an all-electric Jeep will have the same devoted users, car modifications, lift kits, and accessories for off-roading or overlanding.

An EV for Adventure Seekers

Anyone who drives a Jeep Wrangler knows that the solid front axle and often big tires make it a rough ride around town. Stellantis is likely creating the all-new Jeep Recon EV for people who want an EV that can handle both on and off-road conditions. It will be a smooth and stylish SUV for the family, but tough enough for weekend trips to enjoy nature.

The Jeep Recon 4xe EV might be up to the task, whether you’re going to work, taking the kids to school, or hiking up a trail to find the best camping spot.
